FAQ

General

Where and how can I download the game?

LandLords is a browser game, it does not require downloading and will run from any device with an internet connection. You can launch it from the landing page https://landlords.tezee.art

Is it a paid game?

The game is currently free. We will introduce an expanded paid version with more content and features soon. But we are thinking of leaving the option to play the basic version for free.

Does your game have issues with copyrights and licenses?

No, our game does not violate rights and licenses. Although it is based on a popular board game, the component mechanics are not subject to licensing. And in the title and content we use only the author's vision and concepts, not attached to the original.

Release and content

When will you release the game?

It's difficult to name the exact date yet. We are planning for the end of 2025.

What platforms will you be appearing on?

We haven't decided on this yet either. Definitely VK Play, also planning on Steam, in the games section on Pikabu, maybe we'll make a web-page like some browser competitors.

Will there be more maps, additions, expansions?

Definitely! The plans include releasing new maps, also for tournaments, make add-ons such as sailing, diversifying the landscape and possibly development cards, and even bring up new mechanics! The game has huge potential in this regard.

Where are the rules of the game?

The game has a general description of the rules that you can read. They can be opened from the general lobby by clicking on the book icon. They can also be opened and viewed directly in the game: the book button is on the plate in the upper right corner of the screen.

Will there be a tutorial?

Yes. We plan to handle this by the end of summer 2025.

Lobby and settings

I want to change my name/nickname, I want to play anonymously.

This option will only be available on the paid version of the game. It's not there yet.

I want to play only with my friends, how can I make sure that no one else joins us?

This option is available when creating a new game. In the lobby, select “create a game”, in the settings menu that opens, select “private” (at the bottom of the window). After creating the game, a window will open with a choice of characters. There, in the free slots, there will be an “invite” button. One “but”: invitations are attached to the platform from which you send the invitation. So, by launching the game through VK, you will be able to invite VK users. If you launched the game through Google, the invitation is formed by a link to the game. It can be sent to any user, and they will be able to join if they have a Google account.

I want to play with my friends, but they don't have VK

That's not a problem. You can play with a Google account and log in via the landing page https://landlords.tezee.art Moreover, if the created game is public, participants who log in through both Google and VK can play together at the same party.

I want to play but there are no created games in the lobby

You can create your own game and invite your friends to it. Since our game does not have a bot, and it has not yet been released, the lobby is often empty. Therefore, we advise you to agree on a game with friends, or find a company here on the channel #_lookin_for_party. Finally, you can write to us, the developers — we are always ready to keep you company.

Game mechanics and bugs

Why did I create a game but the first turn isn't mine?

The order of turns is determined randomly before the game starts. The person who created the game does not necessarily go first.

Are numbers and hexes always different?

Yes, the hex types and numbers above them are always different even on the same map configuration. At the same time, map generation tries to avoid creating “success sectors” where several 6, 8, 9 are adjacent, since the probability of some numbers appearing on the dice is higher than the probability of others.

What do the dots above the numbers mean?

The dots above the numbers indicate the approximate probability of their appearance. The more dots, the higher the probability of their appearance on the dice. However, this randomness may change slightly from game to game. The most frequently appearing number is 7.

The random dice often give 7

Yes, because the probability of getting 7 on the dice is the highest, also because the amount of combinations of numbers on the dice that add up to 7 is the greatest.

Is the cube randomness really fair?

Yes, the randomness is calculated from the maximum number of rolls per game. Within this cycle, the probability of numbers falling out is as close as possible to the real thing. However, during the game, clusters of rolls with numbers close in value may occur, which may raise questions among players about the fairness of the randomness. To give players the opportunity to experience real randomness, we will soon create a “dice master” option in the game, allowing participants to roll dice live and enter their value by hands.

Is it possible to remove the robber?

Yes, on maps that have a wasteland hex (e.g. “Island”, “Pond”), there is such an option. To activate it, click “create a game” in the lobby, select “neutral hex” in the settings and set the value to “yes”. In such a game, it will be possible to move the robber to the wasteland hex without robbing anyone. In this case, you can remove the robber either by rolling a 7 or using the “Robber” development card. But this does not cancel the discarding of penalty resources when rolling a 7.

Is there any way to see the enemy's resources?

No. We only know the total amount of resources a player has (displayed as a number on the opponents' userbars). However, if you follow the game, you can guess what resources the opponent might have. It's a bit like poker.

Why is it my turn but I can't build anything?

Each turn begins with a dice roll. You can build and spend resources only after that. The exception is development cards: if the cards were bought in the previous turn, they can be played before the dice roll.

I have built the most roads, why did another player get the “The longest road” badge?

The longest road in the game is the one with the most segments placed in a row. If a road branches or is “split” by an enemy settlement, it cannot be considered the longest. Therefore, if the number of roads you have built exceeds the number of roads of your opponent, but they do not form the longest continuous line, you cannot get the “The longest road” badge.

I have enough resources to build a settlement, why can't I build it?

There must be at least two roads between any two settlements, no matter if they are yours or yours and the enemy's. If you have all the resources to build but cannot build a settlement, then there is not enough road space between the proposed construction site and the neighboring settlements.

Why buy development cards?

Development cards provide more variety in strategy through different bonuses, from free roads building and resource monopoly to pure win points.

Why can't I buy a card even though I have the resources to buy it?

Purchasing a development card, as well as all other actions in the game, can only be done after rolling the dice. Before rolling, you can play a development card purchased in the previous turn.

Why did I buy a card but I can't play it?

A development card bought this turn can only be played on the next turn. Until then, it will be locked. Another exception is the “Win Points” development cards: they remain locked until you have exactly the amount of them that you need to win right away. Example: you already have 7 win points (settlements, cities, badges), and among the development cards you come across “Win Points”; as soon as there are 3 such cards, you can play them all at once and win. The possibility of playing “Win Points” cards is highlighted by a round indicator on the development card panel on the right.

I found a bug in the game, where should I go?

If you find a bug or strange behavior in the game, please describe it and attach a screenshot or screen recording in this channel #_bug_reports. We will be very grateful and will try to fix it as soon as possible.
